Pastor John H. Parker was born in Monroeville, Alabama on February 1, 1939 to the late Reverend and Sister M.H. Parker. At an early age, Pastor Parker joined New Nazareth Baptist Church in nearby Deatsville, Alabama and was baptized, by immersion in water, in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. He attended the public schools in the area. Pastor Parker is married to the former Diane Elois Harvey. They are the proud parents of two lovely daughters, Chandra and Lynne.

Upon graduating from high school, Pastor Parker joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably for twenty-two years. After retirement from the U.S. Army in October of 1980, Pastor Parker moved to Washington, DC, and immediately united with the Central Baptist Church. In 1981, he was appointed to the Deacon Board and was ordained on October 10, 1982.

In 1984, God called Pastor Parker into the ministry to preach the Gospel. His Pastor, Reverend Dr. Henry S. Moore, licensed him. Pastor Parker was ordained and installed as the Assistant Pastor of Central Baptist Church on April 11, 1987. He became Pastor-Elect on December 10, 1987 and was installed as Pastor of Central Baptist Church on Sunday, March 27, 1988. In June of 1988, he resigned from the U.S. Postal Service to serve as full-time Pastor.

Pastor Parker attended Prince George’s Community College and the University of the District of Columbia. He graduated from the Washington Bible College on May 25, 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies and Urban Ministries.

Pastor Parker is the source of much pride and admiration in his church and the community for his profoundness as a Gospel preacher, his dynamic leadership, and most of all, for the record he has established in bringing lost souls to Christ.

Pastor Parker thanks God for all He has done in his life, and most of all for saving him that he might be an instrument for spreading God’s Word to both the saved and the unsaved.
